The Telit GT863-PY terminal is a complete encased modem solution for wireless m2m applications.
GT863-PY is the new generation of Telit terminals based on the quad-band and RoHS compliant GE863 core engine incorporating additional and new features.
The GT863-PY featuring the embedded Python™ script interpreter provides the possibility for running customer programs inside the modem, thus making the terminal a complete self-contained application platform for customer solutions. Programmable I/O ports and the IIC-Bus can be used for monitoring external signals, connecting sensors, and switching external devices. The GT863-PY is capable of communicating through all traditional data services provided by GSM/GPRS networks. As with all Telit modules, the GT863-PY offers jamming detection functionality allowing the unit to sense attempts to disrupt the GSM communication by interference with the GSM signal.
Directly controlled by a standard serial RS-232 interface and offering a broad supply voltage range (9–24V DC), the GT863-PY is a universal solution for most low-volume m2m and mobile data applications.

The new GT864 terminal is a complete encased modem solution for wireless m2m applications based on the quad-band and RoHS compliant GE864 core engine with integrated SIM holder as well as additional features.
The GT864 is capable of communicating through all traditional data services provided by GSM/GPRS networks. Offering extended operating temperature, integrated TCP/IP stack, direct control by standard serial RS-232 interface, and with a broad supply voltage range (5–36V DC), the GT864 terminal is a complete stand alone solution for m2m applications.
The Telit GT864-QUAD model has analog audio I/Os at the mini USB connector supporting connectivity for a headset, while the Telit GT864-PY model has, on the same connector, a set of general purpose inputs.
The GT864-PY offers the possibility of running the customer's application inside the module, thus making this terminal a complete platform for m2m solutions.

The GE863-PRO³ is an innovation to the quad-band, RoHS compliant GE863 product family which includes a powerful ARM9™ processor core exclusively dedicated to customer applications. The concept of colocating a powerful processor core with the GSM/GPRS engine allows developers to host their application directly.
The PRO³ incorporates much of the necessary hardware for communicating microcontroller solutions, including the critical element of memory, significant simplification of the bill of material, vendor management, and logistics effort are achieved.
Additionally, this packaging of powerful components virtually eliminates the need for regulatory re-certifications typically required when key components such as memory are changed.
The PRO³ is offered in a Ball-Grid-Array (BGA) package enabling very low profile and small product size required for the design of extremely compact applications. Since connectors are eliminated, the solution cost is significantly reduced compared to conventional mounting concepts. With its low profile design, dedicated 8/64 MB SDRAM, 4 MB serial flash, and its extended programming capabilities in C++, the Telit GE863-PRO³ is the ideal hardware platform for complete and compact customer solutions.
The GE863-PRO³ was designed to simplify connectivity through the availability of interfaces such as SPI, IIC, SD/MMC and USB (Host/Device). Telit offers a vast collection of reference designs enabling use of the PRO³ with external peripherals such as camera, keyboard, display, Wi-Fi®, Bluetooth®, SmartCard, SD Card, Ethernet, ZigBee® and GPS. Application development is accomplished easily given Telit’s continued commitment to open systems. The GE864-QUAD Atex is the extra-rugged member of the GE864 product family incorporating quadri-band functionality, RoHS compliance, as well as featuring low power consumption.
The GE864-QUAD Atex module has been designed for critical applications working in explosive environments and, as such, it's architectural and engineering specifications followed the strict requirements of the ATEX directive. This means, for example, that every critical component in the whole production cycle is traceable and features specific ATEX rates.
The highest level of intrinsic safety (ia) for this module makes its use suitable in the most critical environments (Group II, Category 1), and allows its integration into equipment to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres and/or in apparatus electrically connected to others located in such atmospheres.
The Ball-Grid-Array (BGA) package provides for a very low profile in the integrated solution while at the same time enhancing the performance of mechanical resistance to shock and vibration increasing the safety of these applications. Since cost is a key element for all the applications, the elimination of connectors afforded by the BGA concept also brings down the solution cost compared to conventional mounting methods.
With his low profile design, extended temperature range, ESD and EMC compliance, the GE864-QUAD Atex is the ideal and complete hardware platform for all atex m2m markets, both OEM and aftermarket.

The V2 family is the new generation of Telit modules which offers most of the features of the previous versions plus a GSM/GPRS protocol stack 3GPP Release 4, the Downlink Advance Receiver Performance (DARP) feature for Single Antenna Interference Cancellation (SAIC), the Enhanced Measurement Report, GERAN Feature package 1, which assists in supporting the Extended Uplink TBF and Network Assisted Cell Change (NACC), the control via remote AT Commands and Event Monitor.

The new GE864-GPS is the smallest GSM/GPRS module in the market integrating full 48-channels A-GPS functionality. It combines the high performance from Telit's proven GSM/GPRS core technology with the latest SiRFstarIV™ high sensitivity single-chip A-GPS receiver. The Ball-Grid-Array (BGA) package allows the end application to have a very low profile and small overall dimensions, making it possible for the design of extremely compact location based services solutions. Since connectors are eliminated, the solution cost is significantly reduced as compared to conventional mounting.
With its ultra low profile design, the Telit GE864-GPS is the ideal platform for mobile size sensitive and high-volume applications in areas such as telematics, fleet management, tracking, security, and vehicle navigation. The new A-GPS receiver features an extremely low power consumption adaptive micropower controller to mantain hot start capability, a position resolution accuracy of less than 2.5m, Satellite Based Augumentation System (WAAS, EGNOS, MSAS and GAGAN) as well as assisted GPS. These features combined with the available Python™ application development environment translate into a very cost effective and feature rich platform quite capable of becoming the total solution for the complete customer application. Additional features including jamming detection, integrated TCP/IP protocol stack, and Easy Scan® offer unmatched benefits to the application developer without adding cost.

The GC864-PY makes it possible to run the customer's application inside the module, thus making it one of the smallest, complete platforms for m2m solutions. State-of-the-art SPI and IIC interfaces provide connectivity to external peripherals such as sensors and displays.

The Telit Evaluation Kit EVK-PRO³ provides a ready, future-proof and flexible environment for a quick and easy development of applications with Telit GE863-PRO³, revolutionary GSM/GPRS engine including ARM9™ processor core, and in this way dramatically reducing time-to-market.
The kit is formed by a motherboard, on top of which an interface (adapter board) with the GE863-PRO³ module is plugged in. This concept allows using a unique motherboard compatible for both GE863-PRO³ with Linux or without OS, and can also be applied for future product variants.
On the motherboard are placed several interfaces, such as 4 x RS232, 2 host USB 2.0 and 1 device USB 2.0, Ethernet, SD/MMC, ISO 7816, as well as Reset and ON keys for both GSM/GPRS and ARM part, which represent a reference design for this peripheral circuitry of the module. The ARM core and the GSM/GPRS engine can establish connection on the adapter board and both sides of the communication can be monitored on the RS232 ports.
Adapter boards convert the connection technology of the module (BGA solder) into a PTH pin connector. The part of the basic interfaces is served by the mother-board, whereas specific interfaces according to the type of the module like antenna, General Purpose I/O (GPIO), SIM connector, ARM JTAG etc. are available on the adapter board to connect to the user’s application, extension boards or other development tools or measurement equipment.

The Telit Evaluation Kit (EVK2) provides a robust, future-proof and flexible environment for rapid development of applications for the full range of GSM/GPRS, UMTS/HSDPA and CDMA module families, dramatically reducing time-to-market.
The kit is comprised of a motherboard, and an adapter board in which the relevant module is connected. This concept allows the EVK2 to be used across various form factors and product generations, both present and future.
The motherboard includes the basic interfaces, such as power input, SIM card holder, audio monitor outputs, RS-232, and USB 1.1, as well as a Reset button and power switch. The motherboard represents the recommended reference design for the module's peripheral circuitry. Jumper blocks on the motherboard define the routing of the serial interfaces, audio signals, and power supply. The PC or DTE controlling the module over the AT-command interface can be connected via USB or RS-232.
Adapter boards are available in different models to allow development for the desired module family (board-to-board or BGA solder). The set of basic interfaces found on by the motherboard. The set of interfaces specific to the module (e.g. antenna, general purpose inputs/outputs (GPIO), ADC/DAC, UART etc.) is found on the adapter board for connection to the user’s application, extension boards, or other development tools and measuring equipment.
