Embedded modules are computer systems designed to perform one or more functions to a complete device such as a modem or a GPS receiver.

The modules can perform functions to a variety of computers and devices, for example, wireless networking uses a dedicated router or modem to route data over networks such as GSM/GPRS and 3G/HSDPA. The router or modem must have an integrated system to allow wireless connectivity and functions over the network. Basic functions; send SMS, access Internet, etc.
